Do you want to grow your own food at home and don’t know where to start? Come join us for this empowering workshop where we will learn how to design and create an ecological home vegetable garden. You’ll be well on your way to growing healthy food for your family after this workshop. We will be covering a variety of topics from where and how to place your vegetable garden beds, how to create healthy & biologically rich soil, how to conserve water while growing an abundance of produce, and planting seasonal vegetables for a seasonally appropriate diet.

Join us for a fun potluck brunch every 2nd Saturday of the month at Sarvodaya Farms. 3CoffeeLA brews up some delicious LA roasted fresh coffee and we sit down for a delicious potluck brunch with all our guests (please bring a dish to share!). Attendees are also required to bring something to COMPOST as part of our compost demonstration led by Sarvodaya Farm’s Compost Queen Lynn Fang. Every month, we also choose a “theme” to stimulate conversation and community building.

Installing Laundry to Landscape Greywater System
Saturday, May 28 | 10am to 3pm | South Pasadena, CA

Every day, thousands of gallons of clean or lightly used water is sent down to the sewer. This “greywater” can easily and cheaply be directed out into our gardens to water fruit trees and flowering plants. In this workshop, we will design and install a simple laundry-to- landscape greywater system at a suburban home, which requires no permit and about $100 in parts. An easy sustainable conversion all homeowners should have.

In this workshop, we’ll learn how to use the Power of Soil to harvest all of our rainwater in a small-space garden.

Wondering what to put in your compost pile? Where to get the best materials to supercharge your compost into turbo fuel for your soil? Learn all about how to compost and then learn to weave a beautiful branch basket bin to adorn your compost pile. This is a two-part workshop taught by both Lynn Fang and artist Jeeyun Ha. The compost pile and woven basket bin are part of an ecological art installation in the front yard of a private residence in Covina, CA. Support the installation here.

In this workshop, we will focus on the home landscape, as we help a South Pasadena couple create a garden landscape that not only serves their needs as a space to gather, grow food for their family, and have a nurturing space for children, but also serves the needs of the local ecosystem by restoring water to the earth, creating wildlife habitat, and regenerating soil health.
