Join us for a fun potluck brunch every 2nd Saturday of the month at Sarvodaya Farms. 3CoffeeLA brews up some delicious LA roasted fresh coffee and we sit down for a delicious potluck brunch with all our guests (please bring a dish to share!). Attendees are also required to bring something to COMPOST as part of our compost demonstration led by Sarvodaya Farm’s Compost Queen Lynn Fang. Every month, we also choose a “theme” to stimulate conversation and community building.

Come learn how you can turn “trash” into black gold to grow food at home at this workshop. This workshop, taught by our Compost Queen Lynn Fang, will cover all aspects of composting at home from starting a compost pile, managing and turning a pile, and storing and using compost.

Installing Laundry to Landscape Greywater System

Every day, thousands of gallons of clean or lightly used water is sent down to the sewer. This “greywater” can easily and cheaply be directed out into our gardens to water fruit trees and flowering plants. In this workshop, we will design and install a simple laundry-to- landscape greywater system at a suburban home, which requires no permit and about $100 in parts. An easy sustainable conversion all homeowners should have.

Composting for Drought Resilient Soil Workshop at the Farm

Transform waste to wealth while building soil health. Learn about how using mulch and compost can build healthy soil and reduce the need to water your plants. We will go over natural soil fertility, soil water dynamics, compost biology, simple ways to make compost at home, and how you can use compost in your garden. We will build a large windrow pile using juice pulp, plant waste, brewery waste, coffee grounds, horse bedding, animal manure, and a few surprise materials. The class is for home gardeners and landscape professionals alike.
